Ithica, NY: Call Out for Coordinated, Decentralized Counter Convention Audio Broadcast
April 7, 2008 at 6:28 pm | In Announcements, Ideas, RNC/DNC | No CommentsAdmin’s Note: This one’s for you, Rich!
This is a very rough sketch of an idea that was put into action here in Ithaca a few years ago that I feel could be used to complement the actions against the DNC and RNC.
What we did for the RNC last time, in Ithaca
During the last RNC in 2004, the August Sound Coalition was broadcasting 24/7 live audio on the web. In Ithaca, NY, a small group of anarchists and pagans set up a large guitar amplifier on the central pavilion on the Commons, Ithaca’s downtown pedestrian-only shopping district. Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan Overview
March 22, 2008 at 11:59 am | In Announcements, Reportbacks, Veterans and Active Duty | No CommentsBy Jacob Flom, from the Midwest SDS listserv
Winter Soldier (if you’ve been under a rock) was a gathering of Iraq Vets Against the War (IVAW) to discuss the truth of what is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. There was so much to talk about that I just made a rush stream of consciousness reportback : )
Winter Soldier drew media from all over the world
We were featured on BBC World tv, Al Jazeera, Marine, Army, Navy, Air Force Times, Stars and Stripes military newspaper, Democracy Now, Washington Post, Rueters, AP, Blogs of all political persuasions, and many more. most corporate media ignored it all together, as would be expected.
I have compiled a number of winter soldier videos available on youtube: http://youtube.com/profile_favorites?user=thewaz i recommend everyone take a look at some of the testimony.

No War No Warming: Take to the streets on March19!
March 12, 2008 at 2:26 pm | In Announcements, Climate Change | No CommentsHello intrepid activists!
No War, No Warming is heading back into the streets on March 19th on the 5th anniversary of the invasion of Iraq. We’ll be at the American Petroleum Institute (API) in Washington, D.C. demanding an END to the occupation of Iraq, a SHIFT to a clean energy economy, and a START to a true separation of oil and state. If you haven’t made plans yet to be part of it, there’s still time!
Our next meeting is on Monday, March 17 @ 7pm at the Warehouse Theatre, located at 1017 7th St NW, Washington, DC. This will be a chance to fine-tune our plans, practice our soundbites, and get more people looped into the action. Email info@nowarnowarming.org for more information!
Our action will be part of a whole series of activities (www.5yearstoomany.org) taking place in D.C. on the 19th, the beginning of the 6th year of the illegal, devastating war for oil in Iraq. We can’t let this date pass without a strong showing of opposition, a loud demand to end it and bring all the troops home now!
